  • “The Morning Show” was renewed for a fourth season before the start of season 3.
  • After the stark cliffhanger at the end of season 3, this is desperately needed.
  • Now Oscar winner Marion Cotillard has been hired for the new season.

“The Morning Show” was one of the flagship shows of Apple TV+ when it launched in 2019. With Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, Apple was able to secure a well-known trio of leading actors, and in season 3, Aniston and Witherspoon are still on board.

Even four years after its premiere, “The Morning Show” remains the pride of Apple TV+, so it’s hardly surprising that the end of the series doesn’t seem to be in sight. Despite many completed storylines, “The Morning Show” season ends with a sense of upheaval that could lead the upcoming fourth season in any direction.

“The Morning Show” Season 4: Start date

Season 4 of “The Morning Show” doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s at least reassuring to know that Apple TV+ has already confirmed the continuation of the series. So season 4 is definitely coming, although up until now there has always been a two-year gap between two seasons.

In June 2024, Apple TV+ will once again be offering selected new films and series. Among other things, the thriller series “For Lack of Evidence” with Jake Gyllenhaal will be launched.

It is therefore likely that we will not see Alex, Bradley, Corey and Co. again until late summer 2024 at the earliest. The early extension could speed up production, but the strike by writers and actors in the USA in 2023 will put a stop to a quick shoot.

In an attempt to save UBA, broadcaster CEO Corey Ellison tried everything to get tech billionaire Paul Marks to buy the company. Paul initially declined, but was then persuaded to buy by Alex Levy and even began a relationship with Alex.

However, no one could have known that Paul’s successful company Hyperion was anything but successful and that employees were prevented by restrictive contracts from making the problematic condition of the Hyperion One rocket public.

Paul’s feelings for Alex were genuine, so he planned a future with her in which UBA would be broken down into its component parts and resold, leaving only a news channel with Alex at the helm.

Alex initially showed interest, blinded by her feelings for Paul and insulted by Corey’s refusal to give her a greater say. But when Alex learned that Paul had even threatened and pressured Bradley, causing her to quit her job, Alex teamed up with Bradley’s ex-girlfriend Laura Peterson.

Unbeknownst to Paul, an alternative rescue plan for UBA was being developed, which would have seen the broadcaster merge with rival broadcaster NBN. At the same time, Paul withdrew his offer when Alex and Stella confronted him with a former employee who was willing to testify about the safety deficiencies in the construction of the Hyperion One.

Good news for Corey, who would probably have lost his job under Paul’s leadership. However, the station boss’s reputation was ruined by a story circulated by Paul, accusing Corey of making a move on Bradley Jackson. Bradley, however, does not blame Corey and even seems to recognize during the interrogation that Corey always loved her exactly as she was.

After the end of the Paul Marks era, however, Bradley does not simply return to UBA, but turns herself in to the FBI together with her brother Hal. Hal was one of the protesters who stormed the Capitol in Washington DC on January 6, 2021. Hal attacked a police officer and Bradley, who observed and filmed the attack, made the footage disappear.

In the final scenes of “The Morning Show” Season 3, there is a sense of relief that Paul Marks did not take over UBA, but also a great deal of uncertainty. What will happen to the station if it merges with NBN? Will there be two morning shows? Who is leaving, who is staying?

It is clear that Alex will continue to play an important role in the station. The other UBA employees are less certain, as they could lose their jobs if the stations merge. Corey’s job is also on shaky ground; in addition to the internal investigation against him, he has also made some enemies in season 3.

In addition, Corey lied to the FBI on Bradley’s behalf, which could even lead to a prison sentence. The same applies, of course, to Bradley herself and her brother Hal. Did Reese Witherspoon perhaps want to appear less often on “The Morning Show” and therefore only return for a few prison scenes?

However, the Season 3 finale hints at a possible relationship between Corey and Bradley, which could also be an important part of Season 4. There is also the question of whether Chip will return to UBA after Alex fires him.

The Morning Show Season 4: Cast

Both Jennifer Aniston (“Friends”) and Reese Witherspoon (“Big Little Lies”) will return in the fourth season of “The Morning Show”. Steve Carell (“Asteroid City”) left the series after the second season and will probably not be in the fourth season either.

However, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie En Rose”) has been newly confirmed. She will play the role of Celine Dumont, a “shrewd businesswoman from a famous European family” (via TVLine).

The Morning Show Season 4: Production

“The Morning Show” showrunner Charlotte Stoudt explained in an interview with the US magazine “Deadline” how the Apple TV+ series will remain relevant to audiences with the upcoming fourth season.

In the past, the dramedy has addressed current topics such as fake news or cyber attacks. The fourth season will continue this approach and delve deeper into these topics.

We blew everything up last season with the biggest bomb we could build. So we have to ask ourselves, how are the parties coming back together and what is that going to look like? We’re diving into the world of deepfakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who we can trust. And can we trust what we’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet? As long as the world is a shitshow, there will be a place for “The Morning Show.”
