What will be the must-have Steam games of 2024? Here is a complete list of the players’ biggest expectations with an Arlesian who still inspires dreams.
Video game releases are not expected to calm down in 2024 and big releases are expected like FF7 Rebirth, which is a PS5 exclusive. But players from other backgrounds – Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch or PC – will also have plenty to do. And some have also expressed their interest in numerous games which are due to be launched next year, particularly on Steam. If you are lost in the immense video game offering, here is a summary of all the titles that catch the eye of users of Valve’s service, from the most popular to the least popular.
The top 10 most anticipated games on Steam in 2024
FF7 Remake 2 has been cited as being one of the most anticipated games of 2024, but there are a host of others behind it like Tekken 8, Rise of the Ronin, The Plucky Squire, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth , Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Star Wars Outlaws or even The Shadow of the World Tree, the GOTY 2022 Elden Ring expansion. Software desired by part of the community, but not necessarily by players and Steam players. Indeed, in the ranking of upcoming “Most wishlisted games”, we find other productions all planned in the coming months. And yes, there is Hollow Knight Silksong and it is even in the top three of the most anticipated Steam games in 2024.
#10 Nightingale
To start this top 10 of the games most desired by the Steam community, we ask Nightingale. A survival and adventure game in a fantasy universe in the middle of the Victorian period. At least the decor is original. Playable solo or in co-op, Nightingale will let you explore an open world and its kingdoms, while building your domain and harvesting the necessary resources to stay alive. Release date: February 22, 2024.
#9 Enshrouded
“The kingdom of Embervale is lost. In their greed for magical power, your ancestors unleashed a plague that ravaged the world” this is the synopsis of Enshrouded. And to save this kingdom in distress, the alliance with other survivors – up to 16 in line – will be essential. It will still be about survival, constructions that will benefit everyone – including NPCs -, and fights against apparently devious bosses. Sword, bow or magic staff, you will have the choice of weapons. Release date: January 24, 2024.
#8 The First Descendant
The PC community is clearly still thirsty for shooter-looters since The First Descendant is among the expectations of users of the Valve platform. And yet, the cooperative game of up to 4 did not seem particularly engaging to us at the moment. The beta has indeed demonstrated major flaws in terms of quests, atmosphere and worse, gameplay which lacks substance. No release date set at this time.
#7 STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is one of the most anticipated games on Steam, but also on Xbox Series X|S where it will be available as a console exclusive. A second part which will take you back to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and which still promises a Dantesque atmosphere in a world more hostile than before. In addition to the monstrosities, you will have to be careful not to succumb to the anomalies that occur in the most dangerous places. No release date has been set yet.
#6 Ark 2
There will also be survival in Ark 2, but in a slightly warmer, more exotic environment and with dinosaurs. The developers’ biggest challenge for this sequel is the narrative. Wildcard studio has promised a more in-depth story with the participation of Baboulinet Vin Diesel. In terms of gameplay, the teams also plan to add free climbing, parkour and more advanced confrontations.
#5 Frostpunk 2
How about a post-apocalyptic journey that will highlight, or not, your management skills to save the remaining population and society? This will be the challenge of Frostpunk 2 which takes place 30 years after an absolutely freezing blizzard hit the Earth. According to our dear Camille, this suite is well on its way to being a “great development” failing to be a revolution. No specific release date has been communicated.
#4 Black Myth: Wukong
Steam users are also very eager to tackle the bosses and small fry of Black Myth Wukong. A Chinese soulslike that adapts a great literary classic: The Journey to the West. A novel that influenced many people like Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball). Like his models, Black Myth Wukong will offer different fighting stances, transformations and a long staff like Goku. It’s coming August 20, 2024 on consoles and PC.
#3 Hollow Knight Silksong
The enormous Hollow Knight Silksong from Arles, which is the subject of a running gag at each Nintendo Direct, is still in the hearts of PC and console players. So it’s no surprise to see it here, even if a 2024 release date is still completely uncertain. The previous Hollow Knight did not reinvent the metroidvania wheel, but applied the formula with undeniable talent, especially for its Tim Burton-style artistic direction which was just sublime. We’re not telling you anything, we’re still waiting for a release date.
#2 Manor Lords
Just ahead of Hollow Knight Silksong, we have Manor Lords which will certainly appeal to fans of medieval adventures. This is a strategy game where you play a medieval lord at the end of the 14th century.e century, and where you have to build your own city with great freedom of action. No limitations because of grids or others, it’s up to you to make your mess as you wish. Release date: April 16, 2024.
#1 Hades 2
The first place for games that arouse the most interest for Steam users goes to… Hades 2! The sequel to Supergiant Games’ roguelike is already breaking records before its release, and that shouldn’t change until then. The previous episode Hades was a tidal wave that delivered a major slap in the face to roguelike fans, but also to all those who were unfamiliar with the genre. This will be available in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store in Q2 2024.

A classification which fortunately repairs a monumental error: the absence of survival horror. A genre that is particularly close to our hearts and which is represented here by Silent Hill 2 Remake in 23th position. It’s far away, but it’s at least mentioned. In this list, we also notice the big plebiscite for the different versions of Homeworld 3 which arrives on March 8, 2024.
