“The most effective way to return purchasing power to the French is fiscal peace”, insists Jordan Bardella

Rising energy prices, rising fuel prices, food products… Many French people are caught by the throat due to inflation. For its part, the government has set up several aids for households, such as the fuel allowance, the wood check or the energy check. Devices which are not sufficient for Jordan Bardella, the president of the National Rally. Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1/CNews/Les Échos, he returned to the subject and according to him, “the most effective way to restore purchasing power to the French is fiscal peace. We lower taxes immediately at the pump or on the energy bill and we give purchasing power back to the people”.

“Lower VAT”

For the president of the RN, the “shield for purchasing power that Marine Le Pen defended for several months [serait] the reduction in VAT from 20% to 5.5% on all energy. We consider that energy is a basic necessity, so we have proposed lowering taxes on fuel, electricity, gas, fuel oil…”, details Jordan Bardella.

“The government told us ‘no, we are not doing it because it will benefit everyone. We prefer these checks which are targeted.’ Except that in reality, the French people concerned never fit into the right boxes and that excludes all of this average France, this France of work, this France which works, aid which is put in place by the State, “adds the president. of the RN.

He also returned to the “limits of this targeting logic”. A few weeks ago, Jordan Bardella claimed to have received the energy check twice, when he is an MEP. After assuring that he “declares all [ses] income and [ses] income of a European deputy in France to the tax administration each year”, and that he had “obviously not cashed this check”, the president of the National Rally deplored “the gas factory side, technostructure, bureaucracy [où] people never fit into the right boxes”.

“The check does not restore purchasing power to the French”

As for the energy check, set up in December by the government and from which 12 million French people were able to benefit, according to figures from the Ministry of Energy Transition, Jordan Bardella considers that it is a “logic to short term. The check does not restore purchasing power to the French.”

The president of the National Rally then returned to his party’s proposals in favor of purchasing power. “The drop in energy prices, especially on gasoline, with a basket of 100 basic necessities at zero VAT, including pasta, diapers for children, hygienic products for women… which are important assets.

For Jordan Bardella, the second solution would be “that work pays better. We must revalue the working hour and we propose in particular this win-win deal with companies. You increase your company’s wages by 10% and we exempt these 10% contributions for five years. This is a way that would allow all business leaders who are unable to raise salaries to oxygenate their businesses”, he concluded.
