The Motorola Razr 3 could have a high-end technical sheet

Despite two unconvincing trials, Motorola is reportedly working on a third version of its Razr. Smartphone still folding, this time it would be equipped with a high-end technical sheet.

Never two without three. In any case, this is what Motorola seems to be saying about its Razr range of smartphones. Probably motivated by the success of Samsung in the sector, the American manufacturer would indeed develop a new version of its folding screen mobile. However, until today, no information about him had really filtered. Based on (anonymous) sources, the very serious XDA-Developers site has just shared some elements of the potential technical sheet of the smartphone.

A welcome rise

The most important concerns the integration of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. This chip, currently Qualcomm’s most powerful, would undoubtedly give more appeal to this third version of the Razr. Indeed, the first two models were respectively equipped with Snapdragon 710 and 765G, that is to say the mid-range. The pill was difficult to pass, especially since the price was all in all high. The company therefore seems to have understood that this type of smartphone cannot ignore a premium technical sheet.

It would also be coupled with 6.8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of storage. Suffice to say that the device will not lack power and should run without worry all the titles of the Play Store, even though it is not really designed as a smartphone for gamers.

The site also emphasizes the presence of an NFC chip as well as compatibility with the Ultra Wide Band (UWB). This wireless communication protocol offers the possibility of using very high frequency radio waves which scan the surroundings and allow rapid connection to objects. It is more accurate than bluetooth and wifi and consumes less power. This can for example be used to unlock your car. This technology is quickly democratizing and industry leaders like Google and Apple are already using it.

A screen that takes the fold of the market

Regarding the screen – and although the information should be taken with a grain of salt – it could be an Amoled panel displaying in Full HD and having a refresh rate of 120 Hz. ‘is already the case for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. The large notch of the two previous models should finally disappear to make room for a punch housing the module for selfies.

A second screen would still be present, but its characteristics remain unknown. We can hope that its dimensions will be sufficient to handle daily notifications without having to open it.

If this information turns out to be correct, and the Motorola Razr 3 offers excellent performance while maintaining its original format, it could target a larger market. The smartphone should also be launched at least in China, Europe and the United States. A sign of his greatest ambitions.
