the new call for tenders launched

The Ministry of Transport announced on Friday that it had launched the new call for tenders for the redevelopment of Nantes airport after the cancellation of a previous procedure.

The call for tenders concerns the concession of the Nantes-Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir aerodromes, mainly relating to their operation and the redevelopment of the Nantes-Atlantique airport, according to a press release.

The notice of public call for applications is published today, specifies the minister.

The canceled call for tenders was launched in October 2019 after the abandonment of the Notre-Dame-des-Landes project in 2018. It was abandoned due to insufficient competition.

The discussion with Vinci, current concessionaire of Nantes-Atlantique airport and the only candidate in the running, did not result in an offer which would have been satisfactory in respecting all the financial or environmental criteria in particular, explained the minister of Transports Clément Beaune, early October.

Nantes airport is currently already managed by a consortium led by Vinci.

Mr. Beaune had mentioned at the beginning of October that the new call for tenders would make it possible to do better, particularly on an ecological level.

He then anticipated a delay of around two years in the redevelopment project.
