Édouard Philippe warned, France is preparing to extend the exceptional measures taken to combat the coronavirus by "a few weeks". And new restrictions take effect this Tuesday, March 24.

"The time of confinement may last a few more weeks." This sentence said by Édouard Philippe is part of the assertion of new restrictions containment to stop the Covid-19.

Closing of open markets

This may be the announcement that many caregivers have been waiting for. Prime Minister announced his decision to "close open markets". "But prefects will be allowed, on the advice of mayors, to waive this ban" when the market in some villages is "the only (sometimes) only" having "access to fresh products".

Physical activities limited to a radius of 1 km

"Going out for a walk with your children or playing sports is within a radius of 1 km from your home, maximum for one hour, alone and once a day", said the head of government. It will now be necessary to indicate his departure time on the individual certificate.
Until now, the order has been to stay around the house and not to gather.
The Sports Ministry had specified on Twitter a few rules, which limited sports activity to "one or two kilometers" around your home.

More supervised medical outings

Outings for health reasons will be more supervised. They will only be possible for "urgent care or that respond to a summons from a doctor". This last part concerns "scheduled care", for example in a dialysis center, said Édouard Philippe.

A fine increased to 1,500 euros in the event of a repeat offense

The famous 135 euros lump sum fine must increase to 1,500 euros in the event of a repeat offense "within 15 days", and "four violations within thirty days" may be worth "3,700 euros fine and up to six months in prison", warned the Prime Minister.

Local curfews

A national curfew is excluded but not "where the sanitary situation requires it". Many municipalities are increasing curfews. Decided by the prefectures or town halls, often for a period ranging from 20-22 hours in the evening until 5-6 hours the next morning, the measures mainly concern cities in the south of France or in the northeast, one of the regions most affected by the epidemic.
