BMW formalizes its new compact SUV, and 100% electric : the iX1.
A zero-emission model which will be supported by two plug-in hybrid models and two other thermal engine variants with 48 V mild hybridization technology.
The little BMW iX1 is official!
The German manufacturer BMW announces the arrival next October of its new BMW X1 range. The latter will be made up of four variants at launch (two in petrol and two in diesel), and will be followed quickly by the BMW iX1 xDrive30, equipped for its part with a 100% electric motorization.
In the catalog, we will also eventually find two rechargeable hybrid models and two thermal engine variants with 48 V light hybridization.
For BMW, that’s for sure: The compact SUV equipped with the latest BMW eDrive technology will therefore provide a major impetus for the accelerated growth of electric mobility “. Note that this BMW iX1 xDrive30 will be the brand’s first electric four-wheel drive model in the premium compact segment.
430 km range
On the engine side, we will find here two propulsion units integrated on the front axle and on the rear axle, for a total power of 313 hp / 230 kW, without forgetting a torque which amounts to 494 Nm. associated with an xDrive all-wheel drive, and promises the driver to overcome the 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds.
Regarding the battery, BMW promises the integration of optimized charging software, reminiscent of that of the BMW i7, and a high-voltage battery laid flat in the underbody of the car, whose energy density allows autonomy of about 430 km.
On board will be the standard BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Plus, with an iDrive experience based on BMW OS 8.0. The display will be fully digital, with a 10.2″ handset and a 10.7″ touch console. Of course, the BMW iX1 will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The prices of this new BMW iX1 have not yet been announced, but we already know that the thermal version (sDrive18i First Edition) will be offered from €42,750.
