The manufacturer’s next chip will therefore offer a 70% boost in the field compared to its predecessor. However, we will have to wait a little longer to know its full technical specifications.

We’re going to have to get used to it: AI is everywhere in our daily lives, starting with the processors that power our devices. In the world of smartphones, Google has made a lot of progress with its Tensor chip, as the presentation of its Pixel 8 has once again proven to us. Today, it is Samsung’s turn to put the feet in the flat. During an event in San Jose, California, the Korean manufacturer lifted the veil on its next in-house processor: theExynos 2400.

At least, the firm confirmed its existence by providing some juicy details. But we will have to wait a little longer to know its complete technical sheet. Indeed, Samsung’s presentation focused above all, as you will have understood, on artificial intelligence. And for good reason: the Exynos 2400 offers a 70% boost compared to its predecessor in its field. The opportunity for Samsung to demonstrate its capabilities in image generation, in particular.

Samsung says more about its Exynos 2400

A choice which is not trivial, since Samsung also wanted to present the new GPU integrated into the Exynos 2400, namely the Xclipse 940, based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. Thanks to the latter, the chip will offer better performance in ray tracing, as well as in the rendering of optical effects such as reflections and shadows. The manufacturer’s ambition is clear: to compete directly with Apple on its territory, after the shock announcement of the arrival of AAA games on the iPhone 15. However, it seems that the first benchmarks in this area are quite disappointing.

Samsung, however, remained very discreet about the processor’s technical sheet. For now, we will therefore have to refer to leaks on the subject. The latter announce a chip engraved in 4 nm composed of 10 cores: an ARM v9.2 Cortex-X4 at 3.1 GHz, two Cortex-A720 at 2.9 GHz and three 2.6 GHz, then four Cortex-A520 at 1.8GHz. It will be equipped with a 5G modem capable of delivering a speed of 10 Gbit/s. The processor will power the upcoming Galaxy S24 as well as the Galaxy S23 FE.
