On November 7, the President of the Republic unveiled the new commonly used stamp, bearing the image of Marianne, at the Périgueux postage stamp printing house (Dordogne). Designed by Olivier Balez, it succeeds the current stamp, presented on July 19, 2018, already at the time by Emmanuel Macron in Dordogne. The latter was created by graffiti artist Yseult Digan (YZ) and engraved in intaglio by Elsa Catelin.

The current stamp in common use with the image of Marianne, unveiled on July 19, 2018 by Emmanuel Macron and put into service on July 23.

Fifteen artists proposed their original creations to embody the new “Marianne”. They had to represent, through their work, the timeless values ​​and themes illustrating La Poste and the five-year term, including: freedom, equality and fraternity, the influence of France, awareness of the urgency of the transition ecological and secularism.

Sixty young people from the civic service were asked to rank their favorite works. This jury was held at the La Poste Museum in Paris, in the presence of Nadia Bellaoui, president of the Civic Service Agency, and Philippe Wahl, CEO of the La Poste group.

In practice : How to estimate the value of a stamp collection?

At the end of this consultation, the visuals were presented to the President of the Republic, whose choice fell on the work of Olivier Balez. The stamp, printed in intaglio, was engraved by Pierre Bara, engraver for La Poste. A very classic “Marianne”.

Olivier Balezwho attended the Estienne school (Paris) and who for more than twenty years has divided his time between publishing projects (from children’s books to graphic novels) and press commissions, is a regular contributor to the daily The world.

Pierre Bara, graduated from the Estienne school in 2009 and recruited the same year by Philaposte, has engraved more than forty stamps and philatelic products, including the “Charlie Chaplin-The Kid 100 years” stamp, for which he won the prize for the most beautiful stamp of the year 2021.

Olivier Balez has created the new “Marianne” for everyday use, on general sale on November 13, 2023: “Lettre verte”, complementary values ​​at 0.05 euros and 1 euro, “Service plus” and “Lettre international”.

The new “Marianne of the Future” will be reproduced on all commonly used stamps at the following prices:

– 1.16 euros, “Green Letter” in sheets of one hundred copies;

– 2.95 euros, “Services plus”, in sheets of forty copies;

– 1.80 euro “International Letter”, in sheets of fifty copies;

– On additional franking stamps (two values ​​offered, 1 euro and 0.05 euro), in sheets of one hundred.

These new commonly used “Marianne” stamps will be sold individually, in sheets (for all values) and in booklets (for the “Green Letter”, the “Services plus” letter and the “International Letter” ), to postage for mail from Monday, November 13.
