the new film is destroyed, it’s a disaster

The Demon Slayer franchise is going through a bit of a complicated period as its new film receives fairly negative feedback. But what happened?

Demon Slayer is one of the animes that has made the most noise in recent years. Its animation, signed Ufotable, has been praised on numerous occasions. Building on its success, a film even saw the light of day in our cinemas in 2020, and it was a great hit. Generally speaking, it is a very popular work. However, at the moment, fans are not in heaven. For good reason, a new feature film arrived in cinemas on February 25 and 26, 2024, but it is far from unanimously acclaimed. People are obviously angry for a specific reason.

Demon Slayer is destroyed by spectators, why?

A little context is needed. It is not a film taking the same form as The Infinity Train. Demon Slayer: On the road to Pillar training has a rather particular format, and which is not to everyone’s taste. Indeed, it includes the last episode of season 3 and the first episode of season 4, each with a duration of around 40 minutes. The problem is that that doesn’t make it a complete feature film, since there is only one new episode. Given the price of a cinema ticket, the pill has difficulty passing for some people.

We are therefore mainly dealing with a preview for the start of season 4. Obviously, some of the fans had the impression of having been had, but this is not an opinion shared by all. Others understand the criticism, but were still pleased with the event. As you will have understood, two camps have formed, and this greatly divides the community. Regardless, people’s anger is felt, especially since this isn’t the first time this has happened for Demon Slayer.

Yes, remember, the Blacksmiths Village arc was entitled to the same treatment. On the way to the blacksmith village is a film which brings together the last two episodes of season 2, plus the first episode of season 3. At the time, it wasn’t really popular, with fans who didn’t really understand the point of ‘such a format. The fact that history repeated itself therefore remains a choice considered to be rather… strange. In any case, that didn’t take away from the excitement around the Demon Slayer sequel, scheduled for April 2024.
