Until Dawn returns to PS5 and PC

We’ll stop you right away, there’s no question of Until Dawn 2. Many people are hoping for a new episode, but Supermassive Games seems to have drawn a line under it. Especially since The Quarry was ultimately a spiritual sequel which was in line with the game. Instead, Sony intends to ride its aura a little further with a recycling of which it has the secret. The surprise was spoiled several days ago now: Until Dawn will return to PS5 and PC. It remained to be seen what form it would take. Remake or remaster? It ultimately seems to be somewhere in between.

During the State of Play this Wednesday, January 31, 2024, PlayStation made Until Dawn Remastered official. A title about which we ultimately know little, except that it is developed by the British studio Ballistic Moon which “recreated and improved” with the help of Unreal Engine 5. The team, composed of horror film fans and movie buffs, also announce that they have made “numerous improvements”, particularly in terms of animations so that they further consolidate the original performances of the actors. The characters, environments and even sound effects have all been refined in order to offer an ever more advanced cinematic experience.

Any changes to expect?

The studio also retouched the tonal color palette, which was more diverse, in order to create new perspectives, but also the movements of the characters and the camera, allowing us to discover the Blackwood Mountains in a new light. “You can enjoy a new perspective on the original game, and explore enriched locations with new interactions and collectibles », We can read in the official press release. The sound part should also benefit from a massive overhaul, and this Until Dawn Remastered will benefit from a new soundtrack composed by Mark Korven, well known to horror fans, and licensed music. Ballistic Moon would like to reassure: the fantastic scenario of the original opus will be preserved. However, certain “unexplored moving passages of history” will be developed.
