For years, Samsung has used two different SoCs to equip its Galaxy S range. Depending on the market, these high-end smartphones offer either a Snapdragon SoC from the American Qualcomm, or an Exynos developed in-house by the firm. In Europe, and more specifically in France, it is the second that is preferred. Much to the chagrin of consumers, who have always complained of not enjoying the same level of performance as the rest of the market.
A finding that has been accentuated with the latest Galaxy S22. Despite Samsung’s promises, the Exynos 2200 has not fully succeeded in convincing against the products of the American founder. A setback that could have consequences for the next generation. The famous analyst Ming Chi Kuo has given his opinion on the subject, and believes that the chaebol’s strategy in terms of smartphones could change.

According to him, Qualcomm could become the sole chip supplier for the Galaxy S23 series. This means that all Galaxy S23 sold in the world would run with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, whose official presentation should be held in November. A promising SoC, which should still use a 4-nanometer engraving process, this time from TSMC.
In the series of tweets (to be unrolled) published on his account, Ming Chi Kuo explains that Samsung would not be very confident about the performance of its Exynos 2300 against its competitor.
If true, Qualcomm could achieve a very nice operation. Indeed, the high-end market on Android is a little less affected by the economic recession. Qualcomm and TSMC could thus recover significant market shares and strengthen their leadership… especially against Samsung.
