The new version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt does not make fun of the world

CD Projekt Red has finally shown off the ‘next-gen’ version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, long awaited. The changes are many.

It’s been a while since we hear about the version ” new generation “ of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — postponed several times due to setbacks around Cyberpunk 2077. And CD Projekt Red has finally decided to show it, during a presentation broadcast live on November 23rd. A trailer and more information on the improvements to be expected came out of it.

We have to admit that the Polish studio has rolled up its sleeves to offer the definitive edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a cult RPG released in 2015 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC (then in 2019 on Nintendo Switch). We remind you that all the new features will be introduced via a free update for all game owners, with upgrades within the same console family (Xbox One to Xbox Series, and PS4 to PS5).

Graphical improvements for The Witcher 3, but not only

Of course, the most visible developments concern the virtual part, highlighted in a video running on an overpowered PC. On PC, by the way, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take advantage of the latest technologies available to offer a new, even finer Ultra+ rendering. 4K textures, ray tracing and better ambient occlusion will be on the program.

On the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, we are promised a display equivalent to the Ultra configuration on PC. However, you will still have to choose between prioritizing quality (4K and ray tracing) or performance (framerate at 60 fps). On Xbox Series X, the game will run at 30 fps. Otherwise, CD Projekt Red has reworked several elements: character modeling, vegetation, smoke effects, weather… On paper, it’s a real makeover for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CD Projekt Red is not just about form. Basically, the gaming experience will be even more refined. There will be new options for accessibility, and others to make exploration less assisted (example: we can remove certain indicators on the map). We will also have more control over the options related to the interface (the mini-map can be deactivated) or the camera (new angle to the program). On the gameplay side, shortcuts to cast spells more quickly will appeal to those who favor them during combat. Everything is thought out to make the experience more customizable and modern.
