Good news for users of Windows 10 : the new Media Player will soon make its arrival on the operating system.

Last July we learned, to the delight of the most nostalgic, that Media Player would allow you to rip your old CDs. If the famous player has had a makeover on Windows 11, users of this version of the OS will soon not be the only ones to benefit from it.

Windows 11: a more modern Media Player

At the very beginning of the year, the Windows 11 Media Player took the opportunity to get a facelift. The opportunity for the emblematic reader of Windows operating systems to modernize while retaining most of its key features. Thus, it allows you to freely listen to your music, watch your favorite videos, search from the dedicated bar or simply enjoy a more aesthetic interface and in the era of time.

Rest assured, Windows Media Player Legacy has not yet bowed out. Indeed, this new version of the player has only replaced the Groove Music application for Windows 11 clients (and soon Windows 10).

The new Media Player arrives on Windows 10

Last month, we mentioned the possibility that the Windows 10 22H2 update could be the last “big” update of the OS. If it is now clear that the operating system will no longer host major new features, the Redmond firm will however deploy the new version of its Media Player on Windows 10. And that’s a pretty good news.

The website Deskmodder.de recently discovered the presence of the new reader within Windows 10 in a version dedicated to testers, as relayed to us by our colleagues from Ghacks. Indeed, for the time being, only members of the Insider Program can benefit from it. That said, it’s a safe bet that it should only be a matter of time before this new iteration of Media Player makes its way to all Windows 10 users.

If you didn’t want to switch to Windows 11 yet (or your hardware just isn’t compatible), you can at least benefit from its drive. Now let’s hope that Windows 10 will in turn inspire its successor to find some of the missing features…
