The iPhone X was a design revolution for Apple: end of the “home” button, appearance of the notch… This change of course is also long overdue for theiPad of 10e generation.

Since its release 10 years ago, the basic model of the iPad has not fundamentally changed in appearance. A screen framed by black bands, which have become more refined over time, a “home” button on the front panel and a “power” button on one edge. The next iteration of this entry-level model could finally experience an evolution, rather expected among tablet users.

Changes in look, camera, but not only…

The iPhone 14 should see the light of day during the Apple event in September. Recall that last year, the iPad of 9e generation had been presented alongside the iPhone 13, without any particular novelty. We can therefore think that this year, the 10e Entry-level tablet version might appear for the first time. However, the flagship feature of iPadOS 16 “Stage Manager” may delay this launch, as noted by Mark Gurmann, tech journalist for Bloomberg.

As with any release, rumors and other leaks are rife. This year, for its 10e anniversary, the iPad would be equipped with TouchID on the “power” button and not “home” as hitherto. This change would bring it closer to the iPad Air of 5e generation launched earlier this year. But that’s not all: it seems that the FaceTime camera invites itself to a border in landscape mode, and higher up on the device.

With these new features, the iPad would join its Air and Mini colleagues in a design overhaul towards flat edges and a more industrial look. The star tablet would finally benefit from a modernized appearance and would see the end of the “home” button. Another highly anticipated “novelty” could also point the tip of its nose: USB-C. Changing this port would allow Apple to anticipate the universal port obligation scheduled for 2024, which marks the end of the iPhone Lightning.

What are the best iPads? 2022 comparison

Gone are the days when Apple only offered one and only iPad to its loyal fans. More than 10 years after the release of the first model, the manufacturer has multiplied the models in order to support the uses of each of its users. Are you a little lost in this profusion of tablets? Do not panic, our comparison is there to help you make your choice.
