Clearly, this month of February 2024 is particularly rich in important events for the video game industry. Nintendo would in turn have an unmissable show coming up.
After the State of Play on January 31 for the PS5 and an Xbox event planned for next week (confirmed by Phil Spencer), it’s Nintendo’s turn to have a nice surprise up its sleeve. Since obviously a new leak suggests that the Japanese giant has very good things to announce. What exactly should we expect and in what form?
A Nintendo Direct coming soon
According to information obtained by the media Universo Nintendo from sources who chose to remain anonymous, the company should organize its traditional news presentation via a Nintendo Direct next week, between February 12 and 15. It’s not yet clear whether this will be a mini-event or something more ambitious. At the moment, Big N has not confirmed the information, but generally this kind of leak is rarely a coincidence.
Especially since this coincides with information from journalist Jeff Grubb, who also announced in January a new Nintendo Direct planned for the month of February. We were able to relay this information to you on Gameblog at the time.
It was enough for fans to start speculating about the various possibilities that such an event could offer. On the ResetEra forum, where the information was also shared, players are already talking (and with humor) about the potential presence of the Nintendo Switch 2. However, unless there is a big surprise, it is better not to expect such an announcement, because if that had been the case, the information would necessarily have ended up being leaked. In addition, we imagine that the console would have been entitled to its own trailer, as was the case at the time for the first version. In short, there is no point in hoping too much unless you want to be absolutely disappointed.
What to expect ?
Some speculate that Phil Spencer himself could appear during the live, to follow up the announcements of his own Xbox event and reveal one or more Xbox games coming to Nintendo Switch. As far as games are concerned, three of them particularly stood out from the debates: Mario vs Donkey Kong, Princess Peach Showtime and Paper Mario: The Millennium Door. All three titles are generating great anticipation, so there’s a good chance we’ll be treated to a new gameplay video. Finally, can we envisage the arrival of completely new IPs?
