Mobvoi has delivered some additional details on its next Wear OS connected watch. It will benefit from better autonomy thanks to the Snapdragon W5+ chip.

Earlier this week, Qualcomm unveiled its two new chips for connected watches, the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1. The equipment manufacturer also indicated that Oppo and Mobvoi would be the first two manufacturers to market watches equipped with these two new fleas. If Oppo should however be satisfied with a new connected watch equipped with RTOS, Mobvoi should launch, for its part, a smartwatch under Wear OS taking advantage of the Snapdragon W5 + Gen 1.

While we still don’t know what this new connected watch will look like – which could be one of the first to be launched under Wear OS 3 after the Samsung models – Mobvoi has started to reveal some elements. As reported by the 9to5Google site, the Chinese manufacturer has published a visual allowing you to discover the bezel of the watch as well as its horns or its screen off. A design choice that is reminiscent of that of the latest high-end watch from the firm, the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS.

A watch “epic»

Mobvoi accompanied this visual with a little caption, “arrival of the epic competitor» (Arrival of the Epic Front Runner), and a text providing some details on its characteristics:

The next generation of Ticwatch will feature the latest chip, the Snapdragon W5+, with improved battery life on a single charge, making it the most powerful watch in the lineup to date. In addition, the powerful processor of the Snapdragon W5+ platform and its low-power coprocessor will allow Mobvoi to offer a connected watch with ultra-fast performance and connectivity.

As a reminder, one of the main novelties offered by the new Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 is its better energy management, whether thanks to its low-power coprocessor or its fine engraving of 4 nm. We can therefore expect a new Mobvoi watch – potentially the Ticwatch Pro 4 – with better autonomy. According to some information shared on Reddit, the watch would also benefit from GPS geolocation, IP68 certification, payment by NFC using Google Pay and a sensor to detect cardiac fibrillation.

However, we will have to wait to learn more about the next connected watch from Mobvoi. This is indeed expected for next fall. Until then, other watches running Wear OS 3 are to be launched, whether it’s the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro or Google’s Pixel Watch.

The best smartwatches are not the ones you think

Connected watches are increasingly powerful, but their limited autonomy prevents them from taking advantage of certain functions. Fortunately, alternatives exist and they are sufficient for most users.
