Four years after its launch, the Nissan Leaf goes through the restyling box and changes its look with subtlety. On the other hand, nothing changes on the technical side.
The current generation of the Nissan Leaf has been in the catalog for four years now, completely renewed in 2018 with an in-depth redesign, contrasting with the very particular and aging lines of the old version. An important development for an electric sedan that still met with great success, while competition was still very rare at the time.
And for good reason, until December 2019, the Nissan Leaf was the best-selling zero-emission model worldwide, since dethroned by the Tesla Model 3. But the star of the Japanese brand did not say his last word, while the latter does not seem to have any intention of removing it from its catalog for the time being. Still a little late, while the Ariya is long overdue, Nissan therefore intends to keep its sedan for a while longer.
Little facelift
She therefore takes the opportunity to give it a little makeover, by offering it a few small touch-ups which nevertheless remain very subtle, tells us InsideEVs. No big change on the horizon therefore, but a slightly modified grille, notably abandoning the chrome V now replaced by a black lacquered block. It also receives the new Nissan logo inaugurated in 2020, very slightly redesigned compared to the old one.
That’s not all, because the catalog is also enriched with two new styles of rims, 16 and 17 inches, benefiting from a new, very original design. New body colors also expand the range already offered, namely the Sukumo blue and the Magnetic blue of the new Qashqai. The rest remains strictly identical to the old version, while the interior does not change one iota, keeping its touch screen already updated some time ago, in order to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mechanics unchanged
No novelty either in terms of driving assistance technologies, while the electric sedan renews its semi-autonomous ProPilot piloting system, present on the latest models in the range. Under its hood, this new Nissan Leaf does not change, since it is still available in two versions of 150 or 217 horsepower, respectively associated with 40 and 62 kWh batteries, offering a range of up to 385 kilometers.
Available to order from March 1, this new Nissan Leaf has not yet announced the prices of its full range or the date of the first deliveries. Nevertheless, it will take 34,400 euros (excluding ecological bonus) for the entry-level version.
The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has officially unveiled its common roadmap for electric cars. Among the 35 trendy models expected by 2030 is the successor to the Nissan Micra.
