The Nothing Phone 2a, the affordable transparent smartphone, may already have a release date

After the success of the Nothing Phone (2), the company is preparing to launch a new adventure with the Nothing Phone 2a, a more affordable device which aims to offer an extraordinary design to as many people as possible.

Nothing Phone 2a

Rumors about the Nothing Phone 2a began circulating in recent weeks, supported by regulatory listings confirming the existence of a new device bearing the model number A142. LThe first leaks hinted at key details, such asa 6.7-inch screen and a centered selfie camera.

Now, a video of the device has just revealed what this new smartphone with a rather atypical design will look like. It will not take on the appearance of the company’s first two smartphones.

The Nothing Phone 2a promises a unique design

As we can see in the video shared by Dylan Roussel on X, the smartphone will be equipped with 2 photo sensors at the back, like the company’s other devices, but this time these will be placed in the center rather than in a corner.

The cameras will be surrounded by 3 LEDs, which will constitute the Glyph system of the device. As a reminder, it is this element that distinguishes Nothing’s smartphones from its competitors. The LED positioned at the top will be able to dynamically display several pieces of information, including the volume of your smartphone.

The code name “Pacman” is associated with this rendering, following Nothing’s tradition of naming its phones after classic video games. The Nothing Phone (1) was codenamed “Spacewar”, and the Phone (2) was nicknamed “Pong”. We also learn that the company intends to use a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor.

The Nothing Phone 2a is expected to debut at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on February 27. Nothing has already sent out an invitation for an event on the same date with the words “Nothing to see”, which suggests that fans can expect a presentation of the smartphone on that date.

It now remains to be seen at what price the device will be sold. Given the utility processor, we expect the device to be priced at less than 400 euros in France, but we will have to wait for the official presentation to be sure.
