the number of patients in intensive care down slightly in France

Is this the start of a decline? It is still too early to say so. But the figures published on Saturday April 17 by Public Health France suggest a relative improvement: the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in intensive care has dropped back below 5,900 people, slightly below the previous days.

In total, there were 5,877 patients in critical care services (which include resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring), against 5,914 on Friday. In twenty-four hours, 359 patients were admitted to these services which treat the most serious cases, against 463 the day before.

For a week, the number of Covid-19 patients received in these services has been rising a little above 5,900, still far from the peak of the first wave in April 2020 (7,000).

The total number of people in hospital is also down slightly, with 30,329 coronavirus-positive patients currently hospitalized, against 30,472 the day before. A total of 1,471 people have been hospitalized in the past 24 hours.

At the start of the evening, Public Health France had not yet published the other main daily indicators of the epidemic (test positivity rate, number of new cases, deaths, etc.).
