While the GeForce RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti will be abandoned in favor of new SUPER versions, this will ultimately not be the case for the 4070. Indeed, it should coexist with the 4070 Super. The green team obviously wants to maintain this reference, which as a reminder is at the top of sales.
Even if the thing has not yet been confirmed by Nvidia, the rumors and rumors concerning the next generation of RTX 4000 are becoming more and more pressing. Recently, the Board Channel site, known for its accurate information on the next upcoming CPUs and GPUs, claimed that mass production of the RTX 4070 Ti and 4080 will end very soon.
According to the media’s sources, Nvidia has stopped restocking and sellers must simply sell off remaining inventory. Enough to suggest the arrival of new products, namely the SUPER versions of the 4070 Ti and the 4080. Our colleagues from Videocardz also affirmed thata SUPER version of the 4070 is in preparation.

The RTX 4070 will continue to exist alongside the SUPER version
Nevertheless, the RTX 4070 would remain on the market alongside its SUPER version. As Videocardz points out, Nvidia would have no particular interest in ending the marketing of the 4070, which still remains today the best-selling model of the RTX 4000 generation.
The green team would therefore kill two birds with one stone, by leaving both an affordable reference in its catalog, alongside the 4070 SUPER, significantly more powerful and therefore a little more expensive. From what we know so far, the 4070 SUPER should offer 22% more Cuda coresnamely 7168 against 5888 for the vanilla model.
Additionally, the SUPER version would still offer 12 GB of RAM in GGDR6X, just like the classic 4070. On the other hand, the TDP would be higher: 225W versus 200W. As usual, Nvidia should present the new RTX 4000 SUPER during CES 2024 in Las Vegas, which will be held between January 9 and 12.
