The on-board video – Honda Civic Type R sets Nordschleife record!

The Honda Civic Type R is the fastest front-wheel drive car on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The 329-hp compact Japanese car set a time of 7:44.881 minutes on the 20.83-kilometer Eifel circuit, replacing the Renault Mégane RS Trophy-R.

Not even half a second separates the two compact rockets, but it’s enough for a new record. At the wheel: a driver from the development team that put the Type R on wheels. The predecessor also once held the record, with 7:43.8 minutes on the shortened, 20.6-kilometer route. The Renault set a time of 7:40.10 minutes here in 2019. During our test drives in Estoril last autumn, it was already clear to us that the current one is significantly faster than its predecessor (although it is not a completely new development). Nm delivers. In combination with the revised six-speed manual transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and on to 275 km/h. The lap record was set with a slightly lighter version of the current Civic Type R. This model will only be available to order in Europe under the Type RS name in markets with left-hand drive vehicles. The lap record was set with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect tires, which can be ordered directly from Michelin. The Type R comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S.
