the outings of the week with real gems

Amazon is sending out some very heavy stuff for new Prime Video releases from January 1 to 7, 2024 with impressive action from a master in the field and a masterpiece, among other things.

Prime Video’s 2023 ended with the return of a legend of Hong Kong cinema: John Woo. After five years of absence, the 77-year-old filmmaker was able to count on Amazon’s video streaming platform to distribute his latest film, Silent Night. A production which clearly divides and which is not necessarily the masterstroke hoped for by many. For its next new releases, the service will rely on an iconic action franchise, in which John Woo also participated, and on another great classic. Here are all the releases for week 1 of January 2024.

If you like action, you will be more than served thanks to the new Prime Video releases from January 2024. The iconic Mission Impossible saga takes over the Amazon platform with three films: Ghost Protocol (MI4), Rogue Nation (MI5) and Fallout (MI6). Feature films that propelled the license and Tom Cruise to new spheres. Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg will also shoot on sight in 2 Guns. “A DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence agent investigate each other without even knowing it and embezzle dirty money without their knowledge. They later discover that they were manipulated into stealing $50 million from the CIA. (via Amazon Prime Video).

Brad Pitt, Hiroyuki Sanada, Sandra Bullock, Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are also starring in a very muscular film, Bullet Train. The latest feature film from David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2) which takes place aboard a high-speed train where five hitmen will fight to stay alive until the finish. Probably honest entertainment without being memorable. In short, the complete opposite of Blow Out, one of Brian De Palma’s masterpieces (Scarface, The Untouchables…), with John Travolta in the lead role. Jack (Travolta), a sound engineer, will find himself at the heart of a conspiracy after witnessing an accident that cost the life of a presidential candidate. An unmissable nugget of cinema.

And since we are in the films that are starting to date, Prime Video welcomed Annie Hall, a production by Woody Allen with Diane Keaton awarded four times at the Oscars, and Éclair de Lune. A dramatic comedy with singer and actress Cher opposite Nicolas Cage.

The Prime Video series for the week of January 1 to 7, 2024 (S1)

If the program of film releases from January 1 to 7, 2024 is very interesting, on the series side, it is nothing. Unfortunately, the new features will be slow to arrive and we will still have to rely on the additions of December 2023. But Amazon still ended the year with a very nice addition: Insecure. One of the recent HBO shows of recent years which has greatly appealed to viewers and critics.

“The delicious and sometimes surreal daily experiences of an African-American woman on the cusp of her thirties and her sassy best friend…” (official synopsis). Unlike other HBO programs, this one does not require the Warner Pass. All Prime Video subscribers therefore have access to the five seasons, all of which are already available.

Docs and broadcasts from January 1 to 7, 2024 (S1)

No new series on Prime Video from January 1 to 7, 2024… and no documentary and show either. And it’s been a long time since the last release was none other than the show “On m’appelle Marseille” by Redouane Bougheraba. A program which is still relevant given that it proudly sits in fifth place in the top 10 in France with Reacher, Silent Night, Escort Boys, À contre-sens, Freelance, Un Stupéfiant Noël, Les Cerveaux as well as LOL which shout, get out! Redouane Bougheraba’s lack of filter, self-deprecation, improvisation and regular exchanges with his audience were clearly the keys to successfully entertaining users of the SVOD platform.
