The Paris Bourse resumes its march towards records – 12/28/2021 at 9:39 am

The Paris Bourse evolved Tuesday slightly up 0.22% in the first exchanges, close to its historical record in session, watching without trembling the spread of the Omicron variant.

The flagship CAC 40 index took 15.47 points to 7,155.86 points around 9:20 am, after an opening to breakeven. On Monday, it had risen 0.76%.

The Parisian odds are at their highest for a month and a half, with absolute records reached in mid-November at the end of the day (7,156.85 points) and in the session (7,183.08 points). However, the increases are obtained at the end of sessions with low volumes, the fault of the absence of many market operators.

On Monday, Wall Street’s broad index, the S&P 500, broke yet another record, with all three US indices advancing sharply.

Faced with the explosion in the number of Covid-19 contaminations worldwide due to the Omicron variant, investors are sticking to the line repeated on Monday by US President Joe Biden, for whom the variant “should not be a source of panic “.

The markets say to themselves that this is “perhaps the last big wave” and are surely reassured by “the prospects for collective immunity, treatments, vaccination and also the fact that even if the cases progress, the mortality, in particular that linked to Omicron, remains relatively contained “, summarized Florence Barjou, investment manager of Lyxor AM.

In France, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Monday evening the measures to try to lower the curtain on “a film that never ends”, again establishing gauges, “compulsory” teleworking, the ban on standing concerts and standing consumption in cafes and bars.

However, he has not announced a curfew on December 31, or postponement of the start of the school year, and the economic impact of the measures will be limited for most sectors.

The isolation rules for patients and contact cases will also be “adjusted” by the end of the week, to limit the immobilization of hundreds of thousands of French people, which can currently go up to 17 days.

The automobile on the front

Car stocks took the best start on the Parisian quotation, in particular Stellantis (+ 1.15% to 17 euros), and Renault (+ 0.55% to 30.34 euros). OEMs Plastic Omnium (+ 0.88% to 23.02 euros) and Faurecia (+ 0.44% to 41.43 euros) were also at the top of the SBF 120 grid.

Profit taking on Genfit

The day after its sharp fall on Monday, Genfit was unable to rebound (-0.94% to 4.23 euros, and -7.75% since Monday). In mid-December, the stock had jumped by more than 50% after the announcement of an operation with the Ipsen laboratory includes an Ipsen stake of 28 million euros in the capital of Genfit, up to 8 %.

Access to Covid tests facilitated in France, Eurofins progresses

The French giant Eurofins Scientific took 1.08% to 111.88 euros while the sale of self-tests to detect Covid-19 was authorized “exceptionally and until January 31, 2022”, according to a decree published Tuesday in Official newspaper. Large retailers have been calling for this liberalization since last spring, but until now sales have been limited to pharmacies.

Since the health crisis, the activity of the analysis laboratory has been driven by Covid-19 and screening tests.
