The Paris Stock Exchange ends slightly up, before results and indicators

The Paris Stock Exchange ended slightly up 0.22% on Monday, starting a week with numerous company results and several important macroeconomic indicators in the United States.

The flagship CAC 40 index gained 17.95 points, 8,040.36 points. On Friday, the index finished stable. Over the week, the Parisian coast gained 0.14%, after two weeks of decline.

This is a calm session before perhaps a little more action, since we will have company results and also economic statistics which will be interesting, particularly in the United States, comments Guillaume Chaloin, director of equity management of Delubac AM.

Investors will learn on Thursday the first estimate of American GDP for the first quarter, then on Friday the PCE price index for March in the United States, the preferred inflation indicator of the American Federal Reserve (Fed).

This second indicator will be particularly monitored because the Fed has indicated that it is dependent on macroeconomic data to define the trajectory of its monetary policy.

However, previous inflation indicators came out a little above what was expected, which gives the impression that it is slowing down less quickly, recalls Guillaume Chaloin.

The microeconomic agenda is also busy with the publication of the results of four of the seven largest companies in the technology sector, all American: Microsoft, Google, Meta and Tesla.

In Paris, Herms, TotalEnergies, Schneider Electric, Sanofi, BNP Paribas, Kering and even Pernod Ricard and Renault will present their quarterly accounts.
