The Patient, Sonic Prime, Paris Police 1905… Films and series to watch in streaming this week


As Christmas is fast approaching, there are a few weeks left to refine his top films and series of the year. And this new week is there to help you complete it, with many quality programs to watch on the Netflix, Canal+, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video platforms. Here is our selection of the best films and series to watch in streaming during the week of December 12, 2022.

This week, we recommend the series Paris Police 1905, The Patient, Last Chance U: Basketball (season 2) and Sonic Primeas well as the movie Nanny.

Paris Police 1905 (Canal+)

An unidentified dead man in the Bois de Boulogne. Suicide or murder? Inspector Antoine Jouin leads the investigation which plunges him into a clandestine territory, this wood where All-Paris comes to satisfy its impulses. Jouin will have to leave the beaten track, at his own risk.

After the series Paris Police 1900 (2021), Fabien Nury returns with his new creation and the continuation of his detective universe at the heart of the Belle Époque. The opportunity to find familiar characters, but also a neat artistic direction and a unique atmosphere, between period thriller and morbid tale. With the vice squad at the heart of its six episodes, Paris Police 1905 tackles themes of violence and the vices of society, woven into a gripping detective story. From December 12 on Canal+ and the myCanal platform.

Last Chance U: Basketball – season 2 (Netflix)

This documentary series follows basketball coach John Mosley as he leads a team of young athletes, determined to help them reach their full potential.

Sequel to the first season released last year, this new chapter of Last Chance U: Basketball will appeal to both sports enthusiasts and laymen. All thanks to the mastery of the creators of the series, Adam Leibowitz, Daniel George McDonald and Greg Witheley, also producer of the original series Last Chance U devoted to American football. A series in eight gripping episodes, with a keen sense of dramaturgy and a gallery of endearing young people. From December 13 on Netflix.

The Patient (Disney+)

Psychotherapist Alan Strauss is held prisoner by a patient, Sam Fortner, who turns out to be a serial killer. When Sam visits Alan’s office, he has an unusual request: to curb his murderous impulses. To survive, Alan will have to analyze his patient’s tortured mind.

The producers of the series The Americans deliver a psychological thriller in 10 episodes, which questions the ambiguous relationship between a shrink and his patient by mixing it with a plot of serial crimes. In the main roles, Steve Carell (The Office) and Domhnall Gleeson (ex machine) promise an intense and fascinating face-to-face. Starting December 14 on Disney+.

Sonic Prime (Netflix)

When an explosive fight with Eggman shatters the universe, Sonic travels to alternate dimensions to reunite with his friends and save the world.

Are you a fan of Sega’s hero? This animated series is for you! With a generous first season of 24 episodes, Sonic Prime has fun — just like Marvel — playing with dimensions. Enough to offer an astonishing, dynamic and colorful adventure, intended primarily for a young audience, but which the oldest among us can launch at breakfast. From December 15 on Netflix.

Nanny (Prime Video)

Aisha, a Senegalese nanny, is building a new life in New York while caring for the child of a wealthy Upper East Side family. Soon, she is forced to confront a hidden truth that threatens to shatter her American dream.

This new Blumhouse production (Invisible Man, Insidious) is a gripping psychological thriller. In line with get-out and The Visit, Nanny reveals a terrifying domestic horror, supported by an inspired realization that teems with ideas. From December 16 on Amazon Prime Video.
