Horizon Forbidden West was surely the most beautiful game of the year 2022, all machines combined and it is coming to PC. After announcing the port in partnership with Nvidia a few months ago, Sony announced a release date for the game, further detailing its upcoming features.

The ultimate version coming March 21

As with the previous game, this port was developed by Nixxes in conjunction with Guerrilla. The latter had already been responsible for the portages of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as well as games Spiderman from Imsomniac Games.

And obviously, the same attention to detail has been paid to this PC version, which finally has a release date, it will be available on March 21 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

In a new trailer, Sony lists the different features expected in this version:

  • Support for upscaling technologies: Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR will be compatible in their latest version, with image generation. Intel’s XeSS is also present.
  • An unlocked frame rate (still happy) to exceed the 60 FPS of the PS5 version, including in 4K.
  • Support for ultra-wide screens with 21:9, 32:9 and 48:9 aspect ratios and support for triple screen setups (!)
  • Support for advanced functions of the PlayStation DualSense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
  • The arrival of DirectStorage, for reduced loading times on compatible PCs

As usual, Nixxes pampers PC gamers with a complete technical offer, compatible with all current technologies and with, we imagine, careful optimization. We appreciate seeing the implementation of DirectStorage again here with the success of Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart.

All that would be missing was ray tracing, but that would have required greater involvement from the Guerrilla studio, already working on two sequels to its flagship license. And honestly, the game is already beautiful as it is. See you in two months.
