The Penguin will detail the title character’s rise in the criminal underworld of Gotham City. As for the timeline, the series takes place shortly after the events of the film The Batman by Matt Reeves.

The show will take viewers into the underworld of Gotham and explore the dark and murky side of the city’s criminal activities. Facing Farrell, The Penguin also stars Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs), Clancy Brown (Dexter: New Blood), Michael Zegen (The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel), Michael Kelly (House of Cards) or Rhenzy Feliz (Marvel’s Runaways).

The series is written by Lauren LeFranc (Agents of SHIELD), who also serves as showrunner. Executive producers are Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell and LeFranc. Made up of eight episodes, this limited series will be broadcast on the Max streaming service next fall.
