The Pixel 6 will undergo a life-saving update for their battery

Flagship smartphones from Google and Android, the Pixel 6 are nonetheless subject to annoying bugs. The latest one even drains battery power. It concerns the Google Messages application, which runs the mobile’s back camera in the background all the time. This function, energy-intensive in principle, also leads to overheating of the smartphone which consequently consumes even more energy.

Several solutions exist to overcome this problem. It is possible to close the Messages application each time it is used, or to remove the camera permissions for the Messages application. For these purposes, one must go to Settings > Applications > Messages > Permissions > Camera and select “Do not allow”. It is also possible to uninstall the application and opt for third-party messaging.

According to our colleagues from The Verge who quote Scott Westover, communication manager at Google, the problem has been identified by the Pixel teams and a fix is already being deployed to users. So all you have to do is monitor your notifications.
