The Pixel 8 is still being talked about with a new leak. According to Android Authority, it would be possible to use the terminal as a computer, by connecting it to an external screen. A feature that already exists with other manufacturers like Samsung. However, its arrival on the Pixel could mark a big change for Android.
Connect a smartphone to an external screen and turn it into a computer? This is already possible with DeX from Samsung, which provides an interface more suited to large screens to work peacefully. Motorola had also tried the adventure at one time. This interesting feature could be coming to Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
It is Kamila Wojciechowska of the Android Authority site who affirms, with supporting source, that a desktop mode should arrive on the next flagship phones from the Mountain View firm. The principle would be to use the USB Type-C port as a DisplayPort port (which is possible with this connection) in order to display an image in good definition on a large display.
Pixel 8 could be both phones and computers
The idea would therefore be, thanks to a simple wire or HUB, to transform your Pixel into a PC, all with the appropriate interface. Would only be enough to connect a keyboard, a mouse, and the use “computer” would become possible.

Admittedly, the thing exists at Samsung, and moreover rather effective and pleasant. But the arrival on Pixel phones could totally change the situation and no longer confine this use to a particular manufacturer. And if in the futureall Android smartphones could turn into an extra computer? Not enough to replace our good old PCs, of course, but enough to work on Word.
It remains to be seen how the thing will be applied by Google and especially how it will be put forward. Android Authority also specifies, unsurprisingly, that the Pixel 8 should be on board a Google Tensor G3 processor. We hope that this iteration will be much more efficient than the previous one, the differences being slim between the G1 and the G2.
If all goes well, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro should be unveiled by Google sometime in November.
