At the Théâtre de la Scène Libre from September 17, the dance show Les Chatouilles continues to shock its audience. Andréa Bescond has found the rare pearl to pass the torch on stage.

After 4 years of success, The Tickles has not finished upset his audience. This show, which was adapted to the cinema in 2018, tells the story of Odette, a young woman who faces her demons and the sexual violence she suffered as a child. Rewarded by the Académie des Molières, this one on stage is a real outlet. It first highlights the talents and experience of Andréa Bescond, a remarkable dancer and actress. Now, Andréa Bescond is passing the torch. The Tickles returns to the stage at the Scène Libre in Paris, with Déborah Moreau.

It was quite a challenge to take on such a personal and poignant role at the same time. However, Déborah Moreau delivers an extraordinary performance. Alone in front of the audience, she interprets Odette with nameless grace and sensitivity. The Tickles is one of those shows which are not indifferent because it reveals a whirlwind of multiple emotions. We go from laughter to tears in a way that is as subtle as it is abrupt … And this is where all the beauty of the show lies: there is a disconcerting and impacting paradox in The Tickles.

Through multiple characters, Deborah Moreau reveals the reconstruction process involved in such a childhood trauma. Family, friends, psychological support and especially the relationship to dance accompany Odette and make the woman she becomes over the years, carrying the weight of buried violence on her. Thanks to this alone on stage, we explore different themes but, above all, we lift the veil on a complex and delicate subject. A silence really breaks and we put words but above all gestures and movements on the pain of victims of sexual violence.

If the film adaptation of Andréa Bescond and Eric Metayer's show was already incredibly touching, seeing Deborah Moreau alone on stage leans more on the difficulties and sorrows caused by this scourge. We face the unbearable with astonishing accuracy. In reality, The Tickles upsets and does good at the same time. The unbearable silence surrounding this violence is ending. We then understand to what extent the art of the stage can be a deliverance for many, artists but also spectators. We are then dealing with a real lifeline.

The energetic spectacle The Tickles is therefore a breath of hope to be seen from September 17 at the Free Stage of the Théâtre Libre.
