Spokespersons for the citizens’ initiative held a press conference this Saturday in Paris, announcing the seven candidates on the starting line (whether they like it or not). From 120,000 today, the number of voters can still grow until January 23.

The Popular Primary is like the left: a little lost, still in suspense. “We dare and at worst it works”, summarizes Mathilde Imer, spokesperson for the Popular Primary with Samuel Grybowski, both at a press conference this Saturday in Paris. It is an important day for this citizen movement which has set itself the ambition of uniting the left for the presidential election, with the announcement of the seven candidates on the starting line.

Among them, the “heavyweights” of the left for 2022, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Yannick Jadot, Anne Hidalgo and Christiane Taubira. But also almost unknown: environmental activist Anna Agueb-Porterie and health expert Charlotte Marchandise. Without forgetting the MEP and environmental activist Pierre Larrouturou who has just completed a hunger strike under the sign of union which will have lasted a week. The first three reject the “Pop Primary” as a whole. It doesn’t matter, especially since Christiane Taubira has chosen to play the game. Voters will vote from January 27 to 30, on the principle of majority judgment, noting each candidate.
