The Prefecture of Police calls for witnesses after the violence against Catholic faithful


In response to the threats and insults to which faithful Catholics were victims during a religious procession which took place in Nanterre on Wednesday, December 8, the Paris police headquarters launched an appeal for witnesses to find the individuals.

“The Sûreté Territoriale des Hauts-de-Seine is looking for anyone who can provide information to the ongoing investigation for threats denounced during a religious procession on December 8 in Nanterre”, wrote the Paris police headquarters to through his Twitter account, this Tuesday, December 21.

To accompany his tweet, the police also added an official letter recalling “the framework of the investigation”. Thus, all those present during the events which took place “rue Horace Vernet in Nanterre”, are invited to contact 01.55.69.47.76 or 01.55.69.47.68 from 9h to 12h and from 14h to 19h.

As a reminder, after this attack, the diocese explained in a press release that “during this march, of which two stops were planned, the procession was taken to task by several people who uttered insults and coarse and violent threats during the first stop”. According to Le Figaro, one of the wanted individuals said the words: “Wallah on the Koran, I will cut your throat”.

Comments subsequently confirmed by the diocese of Nanterre, with AFP, which also affirmed “that the torch of a faithful had been snatched and thrown on the participants”.

Threats and violence that the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, had strongly condemned on Twitter, qualifying them to be “inadmissible acts”.
