The president of Taiwan will make a “stopover” in the United States

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen will visit two Central American countries, Guatemala and Belize, from March 29 to April 7. On the occasion of this trip, she will make two stopovers in the United States: one, on March 29, in New York and the other, from April 5, in Los Angeles to meet the Taiwanese community in particular. The new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Kevin McCarthy¨, had indicated that he would meet President Tsai in California. A meeting that has not been confirmed by Taiwan. In the name of the “One China” policy, Beijing opposes any official meeting between Taiwanese leaders and the rest of the world.
