The president of the Federation of hunters supports Macron

VS’is strong support for the head of state, less than two weeks before the first round of the presidential election. In an interview given to Parisian, Willy Schraen, the president of the Federation of hunters, which has more than a million members in France, announced that he would vote for Emmanuel Macron “from the first round”. To justify his choice, Willy Schraen mentioned the results of the five-year term of the current tenant of the Élysée, but also the measures he could have to take in the coming months: “He should commit to compensation game damage, local rural police, traditional hunts… He will put all his energy into responding to our requests. I have his word. He did not disappoint me. No law or amendment that could damage hunting has been adopted in this five-year period. Every time we had a problem to settle with a Minister of Ecology, he intervened, ”he explains to our colleagues.

The president of the Hunters’ Federation has also singled out certain candidates, whom he considers dangerous against the practice of hunting. On the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Yannick Jadot, “who call for a ban on hunting”, take it for their rank, while Marine Le Pen is, according to him, “primary embodied animalism”, which considers hunters as “firefighters on duty “. Because of their potential voting instructions for the second round, Fabien Roussel, who nevertheless “lives the hunt”, and Éric Zemmour also failed to receive his support.

Support but no voting instructions

If Willy Schraen will therefore vote in favor of the outgoing president, he does not give a voting instruction to all hunters. “The hunters do what they want,” he says while calling on them to be vigilant: “In second and third positions loom our worst enemies. If we have a president called Jean-Luc Mélenchon, there will be no more hunting. If it is Marine Le Pen, she will remove a series of practices deemed incompatible with her ideas. “We must weigh in the vote”, hopes Willy Schraen.
