Just over a week after the death of his father, George Floyd, his daughter Gianna attended a press conference with his mother Roxie Washington and former NBA player Stephen Jackson. Sitting on the player's shoulders, she shouted “my father changed the world” on the street in Minneapolis.

For the first time since the death of her husband, George Floyd, who died of asphyxiation under the weight of a white police officer on May 25, 2020, after an arrest in Minneapolis, Roxie Washington spoke. This Tuesday, June 2, during a press conference held at Minneapolis City Hall, Roxie and her daughter, Gianna, 6, spoke for the first time. The young woman answered the journalists' questions with great emotion: "I don't have much to say, because I can't put my words together, mbut I want everyone to know that this is what these police officers took ", she said, pointing to her daughter.

Accompanied by NBA player Stephen Jackson, who supports the family, Roxie Washington expressed her grief and dismay over her granddaughter. "At the end of the day, they went to find their families. She has no father. He will never see her grow up, graduate. He will never accompany him to the altar. She won't have this day anymore", she continued."I'm here for my baby and I'm here for George because I want justice done for him. I want justice done for him because he was good. It is proof that he was good."

"My father changed the world! "

Former 42-year-old NBA player Stephen Jackson also wanted to lend his support. Indeed, the two men were very close, they were both born in Houston, Texas and they spent several years in high school together. Stephen Jackson regarded George as his twin. During the press conference, he wanted to make a nice statement of support for Roxie and his daughter: "As you said, there are a lot of things she will miss, but I will be there to make up for it. I will lead her to the altar. I will be there for her. I will be there to wipe away your tears. I will be there for you and for Gigi. Floyd may not be there anymore, but I'm here for her, I'm here to get justice, and we're going to get justice for my brother."

At the end of the meeting, little Gianna, 6 years old, showed a lot of maturity. Sitting on the NBA player's shoulders, she chanted, "My father changed the world!" In front of Minneapolis town hall.

We give all our support to this family.
