Still relatively uncommon, the new generation of RAM that is the DDR5 already shows a sharp drop in price.

Our colleagues at ComputerBase have indeed reported that the price of 1 GB of DDR5 has gone from 15 euros at the end of 2021 to around 5 euros, at the time of writing these lines.

DDR5 becomes much more accessible

This is news that should therefore delight those wishing to set up a new generation configuration. According to the figures reported by ComputerBase, integrating DDR5 RAM modules should now be much less expensive. With a substantial drop of €10 per GB of RAM, it is thus possible to equip oneself, for reference, with a 32 GB Kingston DDR5-4800 Hz kit not at around 430 euros, but at a much more affordable price. around 154 euros.

This is good news not only for consumers, but also for manufacturers. On the AMD side, we should be particularly relieved about the future of the Zen 4 architecture embedding an AM5 socket exclusively hosting DDR5 RAM. Intel was less at risk with its Alder and Raptor Lake architectures, which could support both DDR4 and DDR5.

Speaking of DDR4, its price seems logically to have reached its lowest historical level. Eventually, we should expect the price balance to tip in favor of DDR5. We must leave room for the new generation, after all.
