the price of masks will finally drop at the start of the school year

The large distribution chains have their stocks well filled, so they have managed to reduce their supply costs. News that should lower the prices of masks. A real budget in a family.

In a shopping list, for some time now, the purchase of masks has become quite a budget. As Le Figaro reminds us, the bill can very quickly climb up to 300 euros per month (if the surgical masks are used properly, that is to say no more than 4 hours).

On the other hand, on the side of large surfaces, their turnover reached 27 million euros the week of July 13 to 19 and 24 million between July 20 and July 26, according to the panelist Nielsen.

But good news. Le Journal du Dimanche revealed that major retailers will lower the prices of masks. Even if a second wave of the virus is expected at the start of the school year.

"Masks are going to become a starter like Coca-Cola or Nutella, all brands are getting ready to make commercial offers for the start of the school year," told the JDD Thierry Cotillard, president of the Intermarché and Netto brands. A box of 50 masks is on average set at 25 euros, the prices could thus be halved. Carrefour, meanwhile, announced more affordable prices in September but said it did not want to "enter into a competition for brands on this product", we can read on the BFMTV site.

Why this decrease?

The urgency is no longer, as at the beginning of the health crisis. transport costs have therefore been reduced. And stocks are built up. The offer is also very open so there is no more war to get supplies. "We no longer have to carry boxes of Kleenex in first class," explains a buyer from a large French company at JDD.

What are the places in Paris and in Ile-de-France where the mask is compulsory outside?
