The Prince from Zamunda: The start date for the sequel to Amazon has been set

It's official: The sequel to "The Prince of Zamunda" starring Eddie Murphy appears on Amazon Prime Video. And the start date is fixed.

Amazon has grabbed the worldwide rights to the second part of the cult comedy "The Prince of Zamunda" with Eddie Murphy (59) in the lead role. The sequel, originally called "Coming 2 America", now has an official start date, as the streaming service announced on Friday (November 20th). The film will be available on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide from March 5, 2021.

The plot and cast of part two

In the sequel, Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is now King of Zamunda. He returns with his confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall). The two experience a new, comical adventure that takes them around the globe – from Zamunda to the New York borough of Queens.

In addition to Murphy and Arsenio Hall (64), the original cast also includes King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones, 89), Queen Lisa (Shari Headley, 56), Cleo McDowell (John Amos, 80), Maurice (Louie Anderson, 67) and the motley barbershop crew will be there again. Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor are also part of the acting ensemble.

The first part was released in 1988 and became a real classic. The film grossed over $ 288 million worldwide. The sequel to "The Prince of Zamunda" is already the second long-awaited sequel that will be available via Amazon Prime Video. "Borat 2" was recently released by the streaming service.
