The royal satire “The Prince” causes critical comments on the net. The main reason for this is the portrayal of Prince George.

Recently, the British royals can be seen in a fictional version in the animated series “The Prince” on the US streaming service HBO Max. In the satire developed by Gary Janetti (55), however, the members of the royal family are not exactly shown in the best light. The fact that Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (6) and Prince Louis (3), the children of Prince William (39) and Duchess Kate (39), were not spared, has sparked some controversy.

In the program “Good Morning Britain”, for example, the lawyer Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu took the floor and criticized the satirical portrayal of the young royals: “Children are taboo. It is inappropriate and contrary to our collective sense of responsibility to make fun of children satirizing the royal family, she summarizes her opinion in a Twitter post.

Other users also criticize the royal satire. “With today’s debut of ‘The Prince’ we want to remind you that these are innocent children who don’t deserve to be caricatured and ridiculed. They deserve privacy, like any other child.” tweeted another user.

Also under a contribution from HBO Max, in which an excerpt from the series is shown, there are some critical comments. “That ‘The Prince’ is based on a child who never chose to be in public is irresponsible and not funny. George, Charlotte and Louis are in elementary and preschool. They are innocent and should be taboo , just like other famous kids. Reconsider this or I’ll cancel my subscription “, Another user addresses the streaming service directly.

This is what “The Prince” is about

At the center of “The Prince” is the young Prince George. The eight-year-old, his parents and siblings as well as other members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II (95), Prince Charles (72), Duchess Camilla (74), Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39), are joined by one prominent Voicecast synced.

Series maker Gary Janetti speaks about Prince George. In addition to him, Orlando Bloom (44) as Harry, Alan Cumming (56) as Georges Butler, Lucy Punch (43) as Duchess Kate and Condola Rashad (34) as Duchess Meghan can be heard. Also there are the “Game of Thrones” stars Iwan Rheon (36) as William and Sophie Turner (25) as Princess Charlotte.

The satire comprises a total of twelve episodes and has recently been available on the streaming service HBO Max. After the death of Prince Philip (1921-2921) in April, the publication was initially postponed.
