fun, news, tips… what else?

On Wednesday September 14, the coffin of Elizabeth II was transported to Westminster Hall, where it will rest until her funeral on September 19. Queen Consort Camilla and Kate Middleton joined the procession, together.

They now form a very influential duo within the British monarchy. After seventy years of reign, Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 on September 8 at her castle in Balmoral, Scotland. After being exhibited in Edinburgh, his lead-lined coffin was repatriated to London, where he has been resting since Wednesday September 14 in Westminster Hall. It is there, pending the Queen’s funeral, that the British will be able to come and pay their last respects before her body is transported to Windsor to be buried alongside Prince Philip, who died in April 2021, and who rests in the chapel of Saint-Georges. From Buckingham Palace, the remains of Elizabeth II were thus transported to Westminster, escorted by the soldiers of the British guard, but also, several members of the royal family.

As Elizabeth II’s four children Charles III, Princess Anne and Princes Andrew and Edward walked behind their mother’s coffin during the procession, they were followed by the Queen’s three grandsons, Princes William and Harry, and Peter Philips. In one of the carriages sat Queen Consort Camilla, who was accompanied of the new Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton. A symbolic duo, who had put pearls in the spotlight. On their black outfits, the wives of King Charles and Prince William had opted for rows of pearls, pearl earrings, but also imposing brooches. A subtle tribute to Elizabeth II, who will be buried with ear beads, as well as her wedding ring.
