the PS5 exclusive that no one expected already beats GTA 5

Helldivers 2 continues to break records! The software formerly exclusive to PlayStation is now more played than other very important titles.

Recently, PlayStation decided to leave some of its exclusives to PC players on Steam. We find Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, Sackboy: A Big Adventure or even The Last of Us Part 1. All this and one last one which has caused a lot of talk from him: Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead, a Swedish studio.

Helldivers 2 reached a notable record

Indeed, Helldivers 2 breaks records in terms of the number of players. It is even more played than all the other PlayStation games ported to PC combined. According to SteamDB, all the games mentioned above, not counting the famous Arrowhead game, have a maximum total number of 300,359 at the greatest peak. A figure which was exceeded by Helldivers 2 this Saturday with 333,827 players simultaneously. The record will be broken again the following day, this past Sunday with another peak at 409,367. This is more players than in a competing game like Destiny 2 and it even surpasses GTA 5, which had a historic peak of 364,548 players on Steam. As a result, it is almost as popular as the other software of the moment, Palworld, which has nevertheless seen a drop in the number of interested parties recently.

However, such records also come with their share of difficulties. Indeed, Arrowhead shared on with even more intensity, knowing that some players refuse to disconnect from the game to be sure of keeping their place.

Why so successful?

It must be said that Helldivers 2 presents itself as the perfect game to play with friends, which partly explains this significant number of simultaneous connections. You and your friends play futuristic soldiers sent on a suicide mission. With a third-person view, you will exterminate hordes of giant insects and equally dangerous robots. As the bestiary goes, the sensation of being in a science fiction film is palpable: this is partly what makes the title so successful. Everything is grandiose and immersive, whether it’s the sound design, the visual effects or even the reactions of the enemies. Everything is super pleasant to handle and very satisfying with all the arsenal available. Although the first of the name was low-key, Helldivers is sure to be a series we’ll hear about again.
