The Rain Man star’s biggest laugh in an interview? It was in France and it’s a hilarious video!

Sometimes, the promo slips and leaves the polite framework of the interview for a cult sequence. This is the case of this video by Dustin Hoffman: faced with a French journalist, the star of “Rain Man” was overcome with uncontrollable laughter.

A very (too?) calibrated exercise, promotion can still sometimes give rise to tasty slip-ups. The actor Dustin Hoffman, present in France at the end of the 90s to defend the science fiction film Sphere, was for example at the heart of a frankly hilarious moment. Quickly discover to brighten up your day!

It was a misunderstanding between a French journalist and Dustin Hoffman that caused the latter to have a laughing fit. A real laugh to rank alongside that experienced by Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford for the promotion of Blade Runner 2049.

During the interview, the journalist compliments Dustin Hoffman by telling him that he is particularly physically fit. And for this we use the term “cut”, which we translate, in this sense (the word is used in body-building jargon), by “trimmed”. But the actor doesn’t really understand (or pretends not to understand) the meaning of the word, while the young woman points to her own biceps.

Dustin Hoffman then goes on to state that when he was a child, the word “cut” had a completely different meaning, namely circumcision. “I’m very cut”, says the actor, who is already starting to find himself unable to stop laughing. Yes, because the star hasn’t finished having fun…

Another misunderstanding occurs with the journalist’s use of the term “pike” (meaning “pike”), which makes Hoffman react, the word also being used to designate a fish, in this case the pike. The confusion is then general, the actor adds quite a bit, and the interview takes on in its final moments the air of a great anything that does good.

“No, don’t cut! Don’t cut”exclaims at the end of the interview Dustin Hoffman who, like us, would like this rather improbable moment to last a little longer…
