the rate of contamination of children is on the rise

Since the re-containment, the number of people with Covid-19 has decreased, except among those under 20, where the numbers are on the rise.

The restrictions introduced by the government are starting to bear fruit. Thus, we observe "A form of slowing down" and one "Thrill" of the epidemic, according to the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran. Thus, between October 26 and November 1, the incidence rate was 496.7, it rose to 427.6 the week of November 2 to 8. Also, thanks to the curfew implemented since mid-October in eight metropolitan areas and Île-de-France, the incidence rate has fallen sharply in these areas.

A rising contamination rate in children

However, the results are more mixed for children between 0-9 years old and adolescents between 10-19 years old. Indeed, from Monday 2 to Thursday 5 November, Public Health France recorded 6,255 cases in 0-9 year olds and 27,280 cases in 10-19 year olds. A rising contamination rate which can be explained by leaving schools, colleges and high schools open. This would mean that schools would be clusters, despite the health protocols put in place.

As a reminder, schools already open will remain open, at least for the next 15 days, announced Jean Castex on Thursday, November 12. Jean-Michel Blanquer specifies that when possible, the presence of 100% of the students is preferable, but adaptations are to be planned according to the establishments.
