The Xbox Showcase was on fire tonight with the biggest announcements of this Summer Game Fest. Hold on tight, because there’s some very (very) heavy stuff to come!
After a lackluster opening night of the Summer Game Fest this Friday, the festivities continued smoothly all weekend… until this evening, when the Xbox Games Showcase will have put everyone in agreement with a slew of announcements as spectacular as they were unexpected. (Re)discover with us the highlights of this evening which promises to be heavy for this year and 2025!
The flamboyant return of big licenses to the Xbox Showcase
We didn’t expect him right away, but he was there: CoD Black Ops 6 opened the conference in a trailer which gave us a taste of its gameplay and gave its release date. But it was quickly swept away by the deliciously brutal trailer for Doom The Dark Ages. But this is not the only license that has put us on edge, since the conference concluded with force on Gears 6which should surprise us with its scenario…
In a completely different genre, the Xbox Showcase announces the great return of Age of Mythology ! Entitled “Retold”, the game promises to be a remake of the previous opuses. Another remake, Metal Gear Solid 3 returns with “Delta”. The game finally reveals some gameplay. He is a sequel but always militarized, STALKER 2 was revealed in a maddening trailer this evening.
A great gentleman also showed up this evening: Indiana Jones returns to console and shows itself with beauty. Another license very popular with players, Assassin’s Creed Shadow definitely comes out of the shadows even before the Ubisoft conference. This episode in Japan showed its gameplay for the first time. But RPG fans will have turned their eyes towards the magical Fable 4. And, as you might expect, most of the games announced tonight will be accessible in Xbox Game Pass.
New releases, indie gems, DLC and hardware at the Xbox Showcase
This Xbox Games Showcase also spoiled us with new features. Perfect Dark has finally shown itself in a trailer that sends heavy stuff. We knew he would be there: the sumptuous Avowed confirms its Skyrim-like side with new game images. We also had a new glimpse of the promising South of Midnightwho looks like the very pleasant Kena.
Fans of narrative adventures will also have plenty to do in the months to come. The adorable Winter Burrow promises a moving story. On his side Mixtape will take us into an astonishing universe, mixing skateboarding and dinosaurs, with a great soundtrack. But, aficionados of the genre will especially jump for joy with Life Is Strange 4finally made official by Square Enix!
Also, several big service games will finally be entitled to new content: Sea of Thieves and Fallout 76 unveil their new season, while Diablo IV announces its new DLC in a gory trailer (sensitive souls refrain). Space adventure Starfield also stylishly unveiled its huge DLC. On the other hand, rather than a new update, Microsoft Flight Simulator will offer a new game in its own right which will once again be crazy realistic.
Finally, the evil tongues will have commented on the announcement of the Xbox Showcase by mentioning the potential new controllers from Microsoft… and they will not have been entirely wrong. In fact, in the absence of controllers, these are new models of Xbox Series who presented themselves to us this evening. So, what are you going to fall for at the end of this evening?
