A new rumor has just emerged about the future Xbox console, and this time, we are being told about a release in 2026. What could we be dealing with?
With the PS5 and Xbox Series having been out for a few years, some people are already looking to the future. What are Microsoft and Sony preparing for us? On the Xbox side, should we expect a machine that would be somewhere in between, as we saw with the Xbox One X? For the moment, we are a little unclear on this subject. However, a leaker apparently has the answers to these questions, including a release date.
The new Xbox for 2026?
For once, the rumor was brought to us by Jeff Grubb, a journalist known for the reliability of his sources. Precisely, one of them, Kepler_L2, claims the next Xbox will be released in 2026. The insider in question is normally known for his theories on CPUs and GPUs. But from time to time, it delivers information on consoles, as it did with the PS5 Pro. This time, he is tackling the new Microsoft machine which has not yet been revealed. What have we learned?
Already, Kepler_L2 explains to us that all of the American giant’s plans for a mid-gen console, without a disk drive, with code names like Ellewood, Brooklin, and Uther, have been canceled. This would allow the company to potentially focus on a new Xbox, which would mark the start of a new generation sooner than expected. And obviously, Microsoft would not wait until 2028 before doing so, particularly in response to the arrival of The Elder Scrolls VI, the release date of which has not been communicated.
You must obviously take all this information with a grain of salt. Whether it’s Jeff Grubb or Kepler_L2, everything they say hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. So even though it may make sense, it’s important to take a step back from all of this. Nevertheless, it gives a small idea of Xbox’s plans over the next few years. It goes without saying that the company has great projects for fans, and we can’t wait to discover more. Maybe in 2024? Fingers crossed.
News from the PS5 Pro
Still according to Jeff Grubb, in addition to the Xbox, we would have some exciting news to get our teeth into for the PS5 Pro. According to him, the machine would be scheduled for September 2024. He, in passing, returned to the list of technical characteristics of the console. We must obviously expect big progress. It could notably benefit from a 60% improvement in its raw performance, but also from the introduction of a processor dedicated to artificial intelligence, specifically designed to manage high resolution upscaling. In short, something similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology. It remains to be seen whether all this is true. To be continued.
