the releases of the week with a hyper cult license

We take stock of all the new Netflix releases for the week of December 4 to 10, 2023 and the first releases of the month. There’s something heavy in the lot.

The new Netflix releases for December 2023 were announced a few days ago now, and it’s still a very generous month. On the program, proven films and series, something completely new, the return of a very popular TV show and also the completely failed adaptation of an iconic video game franchise. But like every start of the week, it’s time for a little focus on the releases from December 4 to 10 with a quick reminder of the entries from the first days.

Netflix films from December 4 to 10, 2023 (S49)

The Netflix releases of week 49 will add a very big anticipated film, created for the platform, and with a very solid cast. Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, Myha’la Herrold will star in the disaster feature film The World After Us. While a family isolates itself to enjoy days off, two strangers interrupt their vacation to protect themselves from a cyberattack. A cyberattack that seems to mark the beginning of the end of the world.

According to the first feedback, it’s divisive. On the positive side, some highlight the performances of the actors, but also the ability of Sam Esmail (Mr Robot) established tension almost throughout. Others, on the other hand, believe that it is rather confusing, that the bellows falls in the last third, or even that the whole thing is very bad. Worse than Bird Box with Sandra Bullock, it hurts… It will be available on December 8, 2023 on Netflix.

To wait until then, Netflix has already put the first eight Fast and Furious, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and Chronicle online. A superhero film in the form of a found-footage which caused a stir when it was released.

We follow a divorced forty-year-old who goes to live in the City of Angels to realize his dream: to become a police officer by joining the Los Angeles Police Department. New documentaries and Netflix shows (S49)

The Netflix documentaries of week 49 are discreet since there are only two. 39-45: Humanity at War will attempt to show the Second World War “like we’ve never seen her before”. A documentary that mixes restored and colorized images, with testimonies from the different forces. The comedian Stavros Halkias will instead try to relax and amuse subscribers with his new show: Fat Rascal. In the latter, the artist makes fun of technology, breakups, sex, plane travel and does not hesitate to do a little introspection to also make fun of himself. It will be December 5, 2023 on Netflix.
