The renewable energy sector expressed its concern on Friday to see the disappearance of the ministry hitherto entirely devoted to energy, a strategic and highly topical subject now attached to the Ministry of the Economy of Bruno Le Maire, known for his strong support for nuclear energy.
For 18 months, France had a dedicated minister, a first in 15 years linked to the challenges of the energy transition: climate, security of supply, sovereignty… And this organization has borne fruit, many players point out.
We may be surprised by the absence of a full-fledged Minister of Energy, especially after we experienced a historic energy crisis in 2022, which is not a subject behind us, underlines Michel Gioria, general delegate of France Renewables.
The lesson of the past 18 months is that if we want an effective energy policy, we need technical mastery, an ability to listen and very detailed monitoring, on the ground, of all the elements: nuclear, renewables, plan of sobriety… This great minister must not keep us away from it.

There is a reality: the enormous work of RTE (the electricity network manager, Editor’s note) on the different energy scenarios shows that the only production levers available by 2035 are renewable energies, solar and wind first, notes Mr. Gioria.
Public policy decisions must be based on facts. Any deviation will have serious consequences for the French, particularly in terms of security of supply and energy prices, he warns.
