The Republicans are desperately looking for a leader after Éric Ciotti’s electoral agreement with the National Rally. Especially since Aurélien Pradié slammed the door on him with a resounding “The Republicans are dead”. The polls currently support him with only 30 to 40 deputies maximum in the future assembly. The party’s survival is at stake.
Since the split at the head of the Republicans, the status quo and the vagueness remain. On one side, Eric Ciotti on the other, his opponents where no figure really emerges. Everyone strives to campaign on the ground, often relying on their local roots rather than the LR label. The objective is to do everything to save his seat in the face of the wave of the National Rally.
LR deprived of significant financial income
The party, undermined for several years by different currents, is also facing the multiplication of personal initiatives. Aurélien Pradié thus leaves under his own banner, undoubtedly followed by a few outgoing deputies. Several dozen candidates for the legislative elections also preferred to join their micro-party rather than the Republicans, depriving LR of a significant financial windfall.
The fact remains that, in this disorder, some want to believe that consistency will ultimately pay off. In the event of an absolute majority for Jordan Bardella on July 7, several executives are betting on his failure in Matignon and a return of voters to a so-called government right. A key element is missing at this stage: a strong incarnation which is struggling to emerge today.
