The Resident: why TF1 does not continue with season 6

TF1 is broadcasting the last two episodes of season 5 of “The Resident” this Wednesday, April 5. And will not continue with season 6 since “Grey’s Anatomy” will take the place of the series from next week. We explain why.

The doctors at Chastain Hospital are going to take a well-deserved vacation on TF1.

Offered weekly on TF1, season 5 of The Resident ends this Wednesday April 5 with the broadcast from 9:10 p.m. of the last two episodes, which will be marked in particular by the unexpected return, for the time of several sequences, of Emily VanCamp, who left the series at the start of the season.

How will Nic Nevin, who died tragically following a car accident, reappear in the intrigues of The Resident and in the life of Conrad (Matt Czuchry)? Answer this evening during a final which promises to be rich in twists and turns.

Indeed, while Conrad wonders about his future (in love?), Devon (Manish Dayal) will be offered a very attractive job in Baltimore, and Ian (Andrew Sullivan), Cade’s father, will have to face a terrible diagnostic.

Fans will however be disappointed to learn that TF1 will not continue with the unpublished season 6 of the medical series, yet already broadcast in its entirety in the United States.

The reason for this is simple: Warner TV owns the first broadcast rights to The Resident in France. Season 6 – which could be the last – should therefore logically arrive, like every year, at the start of the school year on the channel now integrated into the Warner Pass of Prime Video. Before being proposed, in a second time, during 2024 on TF1.

We will therefore have to arm ourselves with a little patience before discovering the rest of the adventures of Conrad, Devon, Bell (Bruce Greenwood), Kit (Jane Leeves), Billie (Jessica Lucas), Cade (Kaley Ronayne) and the others.

Grey’s Anatomy is back on TF1 next Wednesday

While waiting for the return of Doctor Conrad Hawkins, fans of medical series may still want to continue to book their Wednesday evenings since Grey’s Anatomy will replace The Resident next week.

After a (long) break of almost a year, TF1 will finally offer the continuation of season 18 unpublished, of which it had interrupted the broadcast on May 25, 2022, just five episodes from the end.

French viewers will thus be able to discover episodes 16 to 18 on Wednesday April 12, then episodes 19 and 20, which close season 18, on Wednesday April 19 from 9:10 p.m.

And as good news never comes alone, fans will be delighted to learn that TF1 will continue on April 26 with the new season 19, currently broadcast across the Atlantic, which marks the start of a new era for the series.

This nineteenth burst of episodes will indeed introduce a new generation of hyper endearing interns. And will also mark the farewell of Ellen Pompeo – as a regular member of the cast in any case – whose character of Meredith Gray will leave Seattle, and the Gray Hospital, during the season. In short, these new episodes are obviously not to be missed.
